Irctc announced to cancellation charges for booked your train ticket but cannot undertake the journey, first of all you must know the cancelation charges, train ticket charges from class to class and depend on how early you cancel ticket before departure of the train and concern, railways to deduct additional cost and freight separate charges

Sleep Class (SL) waiting and RAC Cancellation Charges :

If you have booked for ticket for SL and your ticket status is whether unconfirmed OR RAC, you can cancel you ticket within 30 minutes priority to the train departure, For train tickets railway charges for Rs.60 Cancellation Charges Per Person, However passenger will be refunded amount in case ticket is cancelled, If you do not maintain the time period, railway will charges of Rs.30 for unreserved ticket.

Cancellation Charges on Confirmed Ticket Before 48 Hours:

If a Passenger has confirm ticket is cancelled more than 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train with flat cancellation charges shall be deducted at Rs.240 for 

AC 1st class/executive class Rs.200 for 

AC 2 tier/first class. Rs.180 Tier/Ac chair Car/AC3 economy

For Sleeper Class of Rs.120 and Rs.60 second class cancellation charges as per passenger

Charges before 12 hours of train departure. Train Ticket cancellation charges is less than 12 hours and before 4 hours less than 12 hours and upto 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train up to chart prepare which is earlier 50% of fair Ticket to the Minumum cancellation charges
